Price Alerts Guide
Alerts let the dashboard tell you something instead of requiring you to sit and watch a chart. Create a rule once, and you'll get an email the moment it trips — no need to keep the tab open.
Creating an alert
- Open Alerts from the sidebar.
- Enter a ticker, choose Above or Below, and set a price threshold.
- Click Create alert. It appears in the table below marked Active.
The ticker has to already have real market data on file — if you type a symbol that's brand new to this system, you'll either get a "ticker not found" error, or (for a real, tradable symbol we just haven't collected yet) a note that it's queued for collection. Alerts on tickers without data yet aren't accepted, since there'd be nothing to check against.
What happens when it fires
A background check runs every few minutes against the latest price.
The moment your condition is true, you get an email from
HUD Metric Station <noreply@tickermetrix.com>,
and the rule flips to Fired in your Alerts table.
An alert fires once, then deactivates itself — it will not keep emailing you every few minutes while the price stays past your threshold. If you want to be notified again (say, the price comes back down and you want to know if it crosses back up a second time), delete the fired rule and create a fresh one. That's a deliberate choice: re-arming automatically the instant a condition clears would risk flip-flopping and spamming your inbox on a jumpy price.
